Journal of Artificial Intelligence Governance (JAIG) accepts scholarly articles in the field of artificial intelligence governance and related interdisciplinary areas. The journal publishes research that examines the governance, regulation, accountability, ethics, transparency, responsibility, risk management, and socio-technical implications of artificial intelligence systems.

JAIG aims to provide an intellectual and research platform for the dissemination of high-quality studies on responsible AI, algorithmic accountability, AI ethics, AI regulation, trustworthy AI, explainable AI, data governance, public-sector AI, enterprise AI governance, AI auditing, AI safety, digital policy, and institutional mechanisms for governing automated decision-making systems.

The primary criterion for publication in JAIG is that the manuscript makes a significant contribution to the field of artificial intelligence governance. Submitted manuscripts must demonstrate originality, relevance, methodological rigor, strong literature grounding, analytical depth, and clear implications for scholars, policymakers, practitioners, regulators, institutions, or technology developers.

JAIG accepts original research articles, systematic literature reviews, conceptual papers, policy analyses, case studies, methodological papers, and applied governance framework studies. All manuscripts submitted to this section must be relevant to the journal’s focus and scope and must follow the journal template and author guidelines.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Journal of Artificial Intelligence Governance (JAIG) will undergo an initial editorial screening before being sent for peer review. The editorial team evaluates whether the manuscript fits the journal scope, follows the submission guidelines, presents an original contribution, and meets the minimum standard of academic quality.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be reviewed by at least two qualified reviewers through a double-blind peer-review process. In this process, the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed to maintain objectivity, fairness, and independence in the evaluation.

  1. Manuscripts will be assigned to reviewers with relevant expertise in AI governance, responsible AI, AI ethics, digital policy, information systems, law, public policy, or related areas.
  2. Reviewers evaluate the originality, relevance, methodological rigor, literature grounding, clarity of presentation, ethical considerations, and contribution of the manuscript.
  3. The editorial decision may be categorized as accepted, minor revision, major revision, resubmit for review, or rejected.
  4. Authors receiving revision decisions must submit a revised manuscript and a response to reviewers within the specified period.
  5. The final decision is made by the editor based on reviewer recommendations, editorial assessment, and the overall quality of the revised manuscript.

Publication Frequency

Journal of Artificial Intelligence Governance (JAIG) publishes articles periodically according to the journal’s publication schedule. Manuscripts may be submitted at any time throughout the year, and accepted papers will be included in the nearest available issue based on editorial workflow, copyediting readiness, and publication queue.

Open Access Statement

Article Publishing Charge (APC)

To support open access publication, editorial management, peer-review administration, copyediting, layout editing, digital publication, website maintenance, DOI registration, indexing preparation, and long-term article preservation, JAIG applies an Article Publishing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts.

The Article Publishing Charge for this journal is USD [APC Amount] [Excl. Taxes / Incl. Taxes]. The APC is charged only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication. No payment is required during the initial submission or peer-review stage.

Waiver Policy

Authors may be eligible to request a waiver or discount if:

Archiving

JAIG is committed to the long-term preservation of published scholarly content. The journal may utilize digital archiving systems, institutional repositories, and recognized preservation platforms to ensure that published articles remain accessible, discoverable, and permanently available.

The journal supports the use of archiving mechanisms such as LOCKSS and CLOCKSS where available, allowing participating libraries and repositories to preserve permanent archives of published content for restoration and preservation purposes.

  3. Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that the manuscript is original and that the work or words of others are properly cited. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and misleading citation practices are unacceptable.
  4. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal or publication venue at the same time.
  5. Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others and cite publications that have influenced the research.
  6. Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, interpretation, or writing of the manuscript.
  7. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, personal, or professional conflicts of interest that may influence the research or interpretation of findings.
  8. Fundamental Errors in Published Works: If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate in issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions where necessary.

Duties of Editors

  1. Fair Play and Editorial Independence: Editors evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit, originality, relevance, clarity, methodological rigor, and contribution to the journal scope, without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, institutional affiliation, political belief, or other irrelevant factors.
  2. Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, and publisher where appropriate.
  3. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal advantage and must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.

Editorial and Editing Process

The editorial and publication process of JAIG follows a structured workflow to ensure transparent, fair, and accountable manuscript handling. The general editorial process includes the following stages:

Screening for Plagiarism

All manuscripts submitted to JAIG may be screened using plagiarism detection software during the initial editorial process. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate submission, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or unethical authorship practices.
